Nouns are the cornerstone of our language. While most students will easily identify them in a sentence, after this unit students will become comfortable with labeling nouns as abstract, common, proper, and collective. In addition, they will understand their uses in the singular, plural, and possessive forms through practice and review. Their learning experience will be memorable, enjoyable, and retrievable.

Pronouns take the place of nouns; however, they are much more complex. While you can often see the gender, number, and person of a noun, it is more difficult to recognize in a pronoun. With practice, students will learn to take the guesswork out of whether to use I or me; who or whom; and none is or none are. After this unit, students will be well prepared to face the rigors of subject-verb agreement as well as which case, number, and person to use in their writing. Because this topic appears quite often on standardized testing (especially SATs) we have incorporated a plethora of review games and activities.
